Start Smart Program in Partnership
\nwith the California Highway Patrol<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cStart Smart\u201d is a two-hour driver safety education class given by the California Highway Patrol to new and future teenage drivers and their parents\/legal guardians. During the event, CHP officers will discuss collision factors associated with teen drivers, collision avoidance techniques, and driver\/parent responsibilities.<\/p>\n

It Happens Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sponsored in the San Ramon Valley by State Farm<\/p>\n

\u201cIt Happens,\u201d is a two-day high school campaign of the Street Smarts Program, teaches high school students safe driving habits and encourages students to walk, bike, carpool, and take transit to school.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The first day consists of lunchtime activities about driving safety (a crashed car on display, walking a line with vision-impaired goggles, a prize wheel with trivia questions, and other hands-on games).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. After the driving safety day, \u201cIt Happens\u201d hosts a Bike\/Walk to School Day that rewards participating students with prizes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
