{"id":156,"date":"2016-07-04T09:20:46","date_gmt":"2016-07-04T09:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/code204.com\/streets\/?p=156"},"modified":"2016-07-04T09:20:46","modified_gmt":"2016-07-04T09:20:46","slug":"road-rage-aggressive-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/2016\/07\/road-rage-aggressive-driving\/","title":{"rendered":"Road Rage &#038; Aggressive Driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"style19 style22\">When you hear the words \u201caggressive driving,\u201d the term \u201croad rage\u201d often comes to mind.\u00a0 While that is a major part of road range, other forms of aggressive driving include running red lights, running stop signs, speeding, and tailgating other drivers<\/span>.<br \/>\n<strong>Road Rage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are crazy drivers on the roads, and the best of us can get extremely frustrated with drivers.\u00a0 Unfortunately, road rage is an increasing problem nationwide and in the Bay Area, many incidents which have led to fatal shootings and stabbings.\u00a0 Don\u2019t give in to road rage.<\/p>\n<p>Tips on avoiding deadly road rage situations:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Obey the speed limit, and stay out of the fast lane.\u00a0 Aggressive drivers often speed and tailgate you.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t give into other\u2019s tactics.\u00a0 It can be extremely frustrating to have someone cut you off, merge into your lane without signaling or tailgate you.\u00a0 Realize that because these individuals are aggressive on the road, they could be armed and dangerous.\u00a0 Get out of the way and try to \u201clet it go.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Avoid using hand gestures, honking your horn, tailgating other drivers, or looking at the drivers.\u00a0 These actions can provoke other drivers to retaliate against you, causing a very dangerous situation.<\/li>\n<li>If you get into an accident with another driver, stay calm.\u00a0 Avoid getting into a heated argument- the driver may take deadly force.<\/li>\n<li>Try to put as much distance between you and the aggressive driver as possible<\/li>\n<li>If you are ever caught up in a difficult situation with an aggressive driver for an extended period of time (e.g., honking at you, following you, making hand signals for you to pull over), do not hesitate to contact 9-1-1 or Contra Costa Emergency Dispatch (925-646-2441) or find a nearby police or CHP station.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Red Lights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As many as 200,000 crashes and 921 fatalities in the U.S. were attributed to red light running each year.\u00a0 Running red lights not only can result in a hefty fine, but you can cause a car crash by being in an intersection when other traffic is given the green light.\u00a0 Conversely, if you are at an intersection and are given the green light, look for oncoming traffic first- there may be drivers who are running the red light and may be speeding right towards you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you hear the words \u201caggressive driving,\u201d the term \u201croad rage\u201d often comes to mind.\u00a0 While that is a major part of road range, other forms of aggressive driving include &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/localhost:821\/2016\/07\/road-rage-aggressive-driving\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> &#8220;Road Rage &#038; Aggressive Driving&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[37],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/156"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=156"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/156\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=156"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=156"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/localhost:821\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=156"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
